Preparing the house before plastering
This was a furnished home with white carpets already down. Before we started, we fully protected the furniture and flooring. That preparation matters just as much as the plastering itself. You’re working in someone’s home, and you need to look after what’s there.
With the furniture and carpets protected, we could get on with the plastering and skimming. The finished-work photos below show some of the wall details around the house.

A close look at the plaster finish
On a job this size, I want the smaller sections to look as good as the main walls. Around the windows, doorways and alcoves, there are corners and changes in direction that take a bit more care. Those are the details I like to show in my photos.
You can see the finished plaster around the chimney breast, inside the alcoves and above the existing skirting boards. These are views of part of the three-bedroom house, rather than a photograph of every room.
Allowing the plaster to dry before decorating
The plastering in these photos is finished, but the decorating hasn’t started. I always advise letting fresh plaster dry properly before painting. How long that takes depends on the surfaces and conditions in the house.
