Wall skimming for a fresh finish
Skimming is a good option when the existing plaster is sound but the surface needs refreshing. A finishing coat can leave walls smooth and ready for painting once fully dry. Corners, window reveals and the edges around door openings need the same care as the larger wall areas.
Where plaster is loose or badly damaged, a skim coat on its own may not be suitable. We can discuss repairs or replastering instead of covering a problem that needs attention first.
Ceiling plastering and repairs
Ceilings often need work after alterations, water damage or the removal of old finishes. Depending on the surface, the job may involve making good a damaged section or skimming a larger area. We look at the ceiling as a whole so the proposed finish makes sense for the room.
Plastering during a refurbishment
When kitchens, bedrooms or living rooms are being renovated, plastering needs to fit around electrical work, fittings and the decorating schedule. Agreeing which walls and ceilings are included helps keep the work straightforward. Fresh plaster must be allowed to dry properly before painting.
